Harlem Ambassadors Show Basketball Team

We received the following letter from about the Harlem Basketball Team coming to our area:

Dear Lions Club,

The world famous Harlem Ambassadors Show Basketball Team is coming your way this fall 2014! The Harlem Ambassadors Show Basketball Team has performed fundraising events throughout the United States and 20 foreign countries since 1997. The Harlem Ambassadors feature a “Harlem-style” basketball show, including ball handling tricks, slam dunks and amusing comedy routines.

We have worked and continue to work extensively with non-profit organizations including, but not limited to: Rotary Clubs, Chambers of Commerce, Boys & Girls Clubs, Habitat for Humanity, Kiwanis Clubs, Lions Clubs and many other service organizations. Our main goal is to help your community organization reach its fundraising potential through these unique basketball events.

We will be touring through WASHINGTON and wanted to inform your organization of this opportunity to host a special fundraising event with the Harlem Ambassadors this NOVEMBER 2014.

With this inclusive package we supply media and promotional tools. We will send you a fundraising guide that consists of a step-by-step process to help plan, promote and advertise the event. We provide you with 1,000 game tickets printed specifically for your organization to use and Harlem Ambassadors’ press releases, photos and logos to distribute to your local media. Additionally, you will receive an autographed Harlem Ambassadors team basketball, which is great for a fundraising raffle. Then, the Harlem Ambassadors play a team your organization assembles, making this an event the whole community can rally around.

Please let me know if you are interested in receiving our fundraising package, which includes video, reference letters and all financial information regarding the Harlem Ambassadors show.
Sincerely,

Tim Fjestad

Lions Mobile Screening Unit Visits Rainier & Yelm Schools Today

Hi Lions,

I want to thank Terri, Chris, Bernice, Linda L., Linda J. for the great job they did today in helping with hearing and eye exams. Couldn’t have done it without you. We screened over 350 students from Rainier Elementary and 105 Eagle View Christian School Students. It was lots of fun working with the children.

Thanks again,

George

Started in 1996, this specially-equipped unit travels to communities throughout Washington and Northern Idaho. It provides free health screening for vision, glaucoma, hearing, diabetes and blood pressure. The Lions Health Screening Unit is staffed by local Lions Club members and community health professional volunteers. In 2000, the LHSU screened over 25,000 individuals, including over 8,000 children.

We can host the Lions Health Screening Van for screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, hearing, glaucoma and vision at no cost to the community. Our club members routinely transfer donated corneal tissue from our eye bank in Seattle to transplant recipients.

Rosie's Place

George & I attended our monthly Rainier Community Cares meeting tonight.  Our guest speaker was Cole Ketcherside from Street Outreach Program.  You can get more information on this program in Olympia at:

They offer help for homeless, or couch surfing youth under 21 years of age, including counseling, help getting your GED, housing, education, finding a job and health services. They have many, many other services available, too.
