Rainier Cub Scouts with their Bird Houses!

The Rainier Cut Scouts worked in KL George Johnson's garage today.

George & I volunteered at Project New Hope this summer.  I babysat, while George helped over 20 children make their own bird houses.  Once they were built, they came into the art area & decorated their houses.  This was a huge success.

George asked Damion "Bud" Green if the Cub Scout Pack #307 would like to make their own bird houses.  Well, Bud asked the boys and they were thrilled.  The Wolves Cub Scout Pack #307 came over to our house today and made their own bird houses from scratch today.  They did a great job!

Look at the bird houses they made:

Thank you all for coming!  George & I look forward to having you come over again!

Rainier Lions Club Minutes for February 25, 2013

Members in attendance:  Linda Lazelle, Shirley Gibson, Evan Burnett, George Johnson, Linda Johnson, Brenda Flaherty, Art Runyan, Bernice Beck, Rodney Mitchell, Kay Bryant
Guests in attendance:  Bud Green, Bill Evans, Kevin McMains

George went over the items on our agenda while we were eating dinner.

We said the pledge of allegiance, sang America and George said a prayer.

Bill Evans:  Bill talked about the future of the Lions Clubs and MD-19.  He is taking a proactive approach to leadership in our clubs.  He believes in families and that Lions Clubs should encourage families to join the clubs.  We were very impressed with Bill and his attitude toward Lions, the future of Lions Clubs.

Kevin McMains talked about American Legion.  He was awarded the Purple Heart.  He sold raffle tickets to a turkey dinner and Mineral Lake Fishing Derby.  The proceeds go to the vets and community.

We formally voted on giving Roy $100 dollar donation..There was an informal vote in favor of donating $100. To Roy Community Lions at the last meeting, but Linda Lazelle left before the vote, so we voted again.  The issue unanimously passed.  The funds have been sent to Roy.

Bernice Beck gave us an update on the results of our Texas Ruby Red grapefruit sales this year.

We discussed "White Cane Days."  We will be holding our fundraisers it on Thursday May 2, at Jim Bob's Restaurant in McKenna and on Saturday May 4th at the Texaco in Rainier, WA.

The Rainier Lions Club's Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction date has been changed from March 23, 2013 to April 27, 2013.  There are too many other activities that have been planned for that day.  (Lacey Sunrise Pancake Breakfast, Tacoma Lions Potato Bake, Bonney Lake Lions "Death by Chocolate" and the Rainier Public Schools Annual Auction.)

We support our Rainier Public Schools, so we decided to change the date, so our fundraiser so it will not conflict with their annual fundraiser.

We thanked the Cub Scouts for their support and help with our quarterly road clean-up.  The turnout on February 9th was the best turnout we've ever had.  There were over 30 people there.  The Cub Scouts and their parents cleaned up the park and walking trail.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO CUB SCOUT PACK #307!!

We appreciate everything you do for our community!

Cub Scouts Pack #307 Cleans Wilkowski Park & Yelm Tenino Trail

Road clean up day was Saturday February 16, 2013 . The Cub Scouts and the Lions joined forces to clean up Rainier . This was the first of four road clean up days that are scheduled by the Rainier Lions for 2013.

Thanks to Cub Scout Pack 307 a much wider area was cleaned than usual ,George Johnson president of the Rainier Lions said,”that we always invite the public to join in”.  We all live in Rainier and should want our roads to look as neat as possible. What a great surprise when our Cub Scouts showed up with members from the Tigers, Wolf, Bear and Webelos dens. Parents and scouts alike were up for the task. The Rainier Lions worked highway 507 and the Cub Scouts cleaned Wilkowski park and the Yelm Tenino trail. Over 30 bags of trash were picked up in a little over 2 hrs.

The Lions want to thank the Rainier Cub Scouts pack 307 and their parents for there dedication to community service in the city we live in. “It’s great to have a Cub Scout pack back in Rainier “Johnson said. “It’s a great organization and a great addition to Rainier's youth activities”.

If you want information on the Rainier Lions Club activities, or future Highway 507 road clean-ups like last Saturday, please feel free to call George. We're hoping you enjoyed this little story. There are also pictures below.
