Santa came to Rainier last night!

Rainier Christmas Tree Lighting Last Night

A huge crowd was waiting in the Rainier City Hall parking lot to see the lighting of the city Christmas Tree and sing Christmas Carols - as the children patiently waited for Santa Claus to arrive.  Shortly after the Christmas Tree lights came on - we heard the fire truck sirens.  We saw the fire truck with it's flashing lights turn off of Highway 507 and head to Rainier.  Santa was riding shotgun in the Yelm fire truck - as the fireman delivered Santa Claus to the excited children of Rainier.
The children lined up inside of city hall and patiently waited to sit on his lap,  receive a stuffed animal from him and get their pictures taken.  Cookies, little cuties and beverages were served to everyone - as the children patiently waited in line for their turn with Santa Claus.

This was the most amazing Santa Claus.  There were children of all ages waiting in line.  Not one child - or baby - cried.  They were all smiling and very excited to see Santa.  Thank you, Santa, for your kindness and consideration.  Your patience and love was mirrored by all of the children.

A special thank you goes out to all of the parents of the children who attended.

Thank you Randy, Kathy & The City Hall Staff!

Rainier Fire Auxiliary - Holiday Gift & Food Drive

The Rainier Fire Auxiliary is kicking off its annual Holiday Gift and Food Drive for needy families in the communities of Yelm and Rainier.

They need your help in making the holidays brighter for these deserving families.  All gift donations, large and small, put some cheer into the holidays for a child who may otherwise not have received any gift at all.  The items are given to families who often cannot afford to buy presents, so that the children can open a gift that's given to them by a loved one, not a charity.  All food donations help put food on the table for these same families during the holiday season.

You can help by donating gifts for boys and girls of all ages and any canned or non-perishable food items.  We are also accepting "like new" clothes, toys, games, etc.  Donations may be dropped off a the Rainier Fire Station at 12506 133rd Ave SE - in Rainier, WA or at the Yelm Fire Station at 709 Mill Road SE, Yelm, WA.

Monetary donations are always accepted and may be made to the Rainier Fire Auxiliary and mailed to PO Box 777, Yelm WA 98597.  Your donation is tax deductible and will help local families.

Volunteers are also needed to help pick up, sort and inspect all donated gifts and food items.  If you can help, please call Kathy Schleis at (360) 280-0941.

Thank you.
