Dear Lions,
Evan Burnett and I attended the Zone Dinner at the Hawks Prairie Inn last week. It was a very nice meeting with many great presentations.
Here are the highlights from that meeting:
Camp Leo received a $50,000 grant from the Hemlsey Foundation. This grant is giving Camp Leo the ability to expand to serve over 200 children next year. They will be able to serve high school students, as well as younger students.
Check out the website for Project New Hope Here: NW Project New Hope. They are hoping to have 4 different groups for Vets this year. The first three in July, August and September will be for male vets and their families. The group in October will serve female vets and their families.
Project New Hope has new patches for the Lions Clubs that donate to them. There is a regular patch for donations of $250 and a Joel Graves Founders Patch for donations of $500 or more.
Jack "Bubbles" won the 50/50 raffle of $60.00 and donated it to Project New Hope. Thank you,
Bubbles!
There will be NO LEADERSHIP TRAINING at the Spring Conference this year. They will have leadership training that will be offered at specified times and dates - specifically for the job titles: President, Secretary, Treasurer & Membership Retention.
Remember to contact Bill Miller to set up a LERC 101 tour of their eyeglass recycling facility. They need people to learn how to use the equipment to read the prescriptions for the eyeglasses. Contact Bill if you're interested in learning about doing this.
The debate for the two candidates running for District Governor will be held on March 6, 2013.
Please contact Zone Chairperson Dee McDermot for more information about this.
