Help us save 157 million children

Help us save 157 million children. Be a part of the solution through the One Shot, One Life: Lions Measles Initiative.

Make a donation that will be matched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

In October 2011, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation challenged Lions to raise US$10 million for measles. To help Lions in this effort, the Gates Foundation is donating US$1 for every $2 raised by Lions. This is a total matching contribution of US$5 million, the largest single donation in LCIF’s history! Together, LCIF and the Gates Foundation will provide a total of US$15 million to fight measles this year.

As of the beginning of July 2012, Lions have reached the halfway point in meeting this challenge. Donations now total over US$5 million. Thank you Lions! Together, we can raise the remaining US$5 million to reach our goal of US$10 million, helping children around the world. It is time to get involved.
Lions are collaborating with the Measles Initiative partners, a global collaboration of leading public health agencies, to rescue children from measles. Measles is one of the world’s deadliest vaccine preventable diseases: 450 children die each day. Yet, for less than US$1, we can vaccinate one child for life. You can help us save the lives of these children ensure they do not become a statistic.

In 2010, Lions and LCIF, with a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and support from local ministries of health and other Measles Initiative partners, provided immunizations for more than 41 million children in Africa. Now, as our efforts expand, Lions have the opportunity to help children in all countries where measles remains a heavy public health burden through the challenge grant.
