Earth Day 2012

 Thank You, Lions Around The World


The Rainier Lions Club cleaned up Highway 507 on April 21, 2012 in celebration of Earth Day.




 April 22 is the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day.  Many consider Earth Day to be the birth of the modern environmental movement, which began in 1970.  Twenty Million people took to the streets on the first Earth Day. 

Today the goalis a of A Billion Acts of Green®, which launched an international, 1-million tree planting initiative with Avatar director James Cameron and tripled its online base to over 900,000 community members.

Lions Clubs International:  2011-2012 International President Wing-Kun Tam is challenging Lions around the world to plant one million trees this year to demonstrate the strength of our global network. The map below provides an at-a-glance update on how close Lions from various parts of the world have come to reaching this goal so far.

  1. Prairie grass removes more CO2 then trees. It's time we all consider the consiquences of our actions and lifestyles.
