Report Animal Neglect to Save Lives:

Thank you for your recent article on the latest case of animal cruelty with the horses that were found starved in Yelm. It is heart wrenching to read about these cases of severe animal neglect that result in extreme suffering to the point of death. Thankfully a neighbor reported the case before more animals died.

We are so fortunate to have Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County that will assist with the rehabilitation and foster care of these horses. They are in dire need of our donations to continue the work they do to care for the animals in their care.

It is tragic that this case was not reported sooner before these horses reached the point of starving to death. No animal should be left to suffer as these beautiful horses were.

I would like to encourage anyone who observes a case of neglect or abuse to call Thurston County Animals Services to report the case. They have trained humane officers who will investigate and assess the situation. Their number is 360-352-2510 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 360-352-2510 end_of_the_skype_highlighting .

Another number to call is Thurston County Crime Stoppers to leave an anonymous tip on animal abuse or neglect – their number is 360-493-2222 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 360-493-2222 end_of_the_skype_highlighting .

Please report any problem early before more animals are left to suffer and die.
