In El Salvador, 37 percent of students at the Eugenia de Duenas School of the Blind are blind because of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) - a condition that occurs in premature babies' eyes. The severe scarring from ROP can quickly cause blindness if it is not diagnosed and treated in time. To save the sight of premature infants with ROP, the Lions Club of San Salvador worked with SightFirst to purchase equipment for a children's hospital in San Salvador to treat ROP and retinoblastoma, a cancer of the eye. Since April 2011, the hospital has saved the sight of more than 100 patients
