Old Pictures of Rainier
Lion George Johnson wants to create a community calendar for 2013 using old photos of Rainier, WA. If you have any old photos of activites of the town, please feel free to email them to him at: johnsonpublishinghouse@gmail.com. We would like to make a sample calender to present to the next board meeting. There are not very many vintage pictures of the city/town of Rainier, WA online. Thank you.

The video blog will update members who were unable to attend a meeting and also show the sponsoring Lions what they've been up to. How has your Leo club used new technology to make club administration easier? They have 5 videos, so far. (Video 2 has 2 parts.) Please check it out. It's a great tool for Lions Clubs everywhere. Board Meeting News Notes
Last night we had a Rainier Lions Club board meeting. It was very productive! We went over the menu for the Blue Grass Festival in August. We are adding a couple of items: Sauerkraut and strawberry shortcake. (Not together.) We will be changing from hot dogs to polish sausage and serving the Sauerkraut to go with the doggies.
We are looking into getting special "20th Anniversary" Blue Grass coffee mugs made to sell at this years festival. Anyone buying a mug will get free coffee/refills during the celebration. We plan on selling the mugs for $5.00.
Victoria has done a lot of work getting everything together for the Health Van. There will be sight, hearing, diabetes and blood pressure testing and more. The van will be open from 12:00 noon - 7 PM. We need everyone to volunteer to man the van for a shift. There will be free vaccinations provided byThurston County for school age children under the age of 18. Two dentists have volunteered to do complimentary dental screenings for school age children, too. WAY TO GO VICTORIA!!!!
We need to discuss several items at our next membership meeting. The Scholorship is one item. We have 2 new members, who submitted their family application! Learn who they are at our next meeting! Victoria Fanton has agreed to become our Membership Retention Chair next year.
George has designed a trifold flyer to go out throughout the area promoting Blue Grass. Since the Rainier Lions Club belongs to the local Chamber of Commerce, we can advertise our festival in their newsletter. (George and I ordered a Lion costume last night. The size is 42" chest maximum, so we will need someone who can wear it during the festival.)
Thank you to everyone who attended our board meeting.
