Lions South Sound Essay Contest

I think the date should be Jan 1, 2014, not December 1, 2014, but I'm posting the South Sound Essay Contest letter the way we received it:

December 1, 2014

Subject: Lions South Sound Essay Contest

To: Club presidents for C-2. C-6 and North Mason Lions Club

A new year is here and a very important part of the contest is needed to be accomplished.  It can only happen if you and your club consider to participate in the judging portion of the contest.

This year, 12 applications were received to interview and be approved to enter the contest.  Only five candidates submitted their essay for judging.  In other words, one of these five candidates will be traveling to a foreign country of their choice, spend 4 to 6 weeks during the summer and stay with at least two host families.

The essays will be read and judged on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Olympics West Retirement Apartments, 929 Trosper Road S. W. in Tumwater.  I look forward to members from your club assisting in the selection of the winners. A continental breakfast, beverages and snacks will be provided.

Thank you for your club support of the Essay Contest.  It is the helping hands of all the clubs that make these programs possible.

Yours in Lionism,

Mel Williamson

ZONE COOKBOOK

Zone Chair Donna Murr has decided to make her 2013 project - a cookbook with recipes and Lion stories from members in our district.

Please remember to send us an email with your special recipe to:  rainierlionsclub@gmail.com.  We welcome recipes, pictures and stories from members from all of the clubs in our area.  We look forward to presenting our 2013 edition of the MD-19 Lions Cookbook!

I know many of our members have wonderful recipes to share.  Pictures & short “Lions” stories that go along with their recipes would be a wonderful addition, too!

We welcome more then one recipe from our members.

Update on Zone Advisory Meeting in February!

C-6'rs

Here's more info from your Zone Chair Dee about the upcoming Zone Advisory
Meeting in Feb!

Pat Baron, Zone Secy

Hello Zone Chairs!

For our February 6 Zone meeting the theme is "JOKEFEST".  Please ask your King Lions  (or any other member who will be attending in their place) to bring their favorite short joke to share with the other members.  It can be on any subject as long as it is short (no more than 2 minutes) and appropriate for the setting.

You will be called upon to recite your joke so practice it beforehand!

We at Lacey Lamplighters are looking forward to seeing as many members from all zones as possible.  The area in the restaurant where we will be meeting will hold 50 people comfortably.  they have a great menu to choose from so come hungry.

See you there!
