Rainier Market UPDATE:

Sarb called George today.  He said they'll start cleaning up the Rainier Market on Monday, so they can reopen, soon.

Rainier Market update:  – Sarb is going to reopen and has started  work this week on cleaning up after the fire.

We received the following email from Marian:

"George, thanks for keeping us up to date on Rainier happenings.  I wonder if you might put out a notice about the Pizza place in Rainier.   They have been affected by the fire at the market, they re unable to serve some of the items on their menu.  We stopped there this weekend and learned that this is hurting their business.  They would appreciate customers to support them through this."  Marian

Halloween in the park will be held on October 31st in Wilkowski Park from 4:30 to 8 pm with many of area businesses and clubs handing out goodies for the kids.  We will be serving coffee, cocoa and cookies to keep everyone going.    The thrift store has donated some items to help us do Wilkowski Park in a Halloween theme.    ----Might be a good time to visit our Thrift Store to save on clothing and other Halloween items for your costumes and home decorating.

Rainier Community Cares - has been working on a community web site and hopping to have it up and running sometime in November. It will be  a true community website not only listing what is happening but will include links to businesses , clubs, local sales, churches and the opportunity to for everyone to post yard sales etc, and maybe even a place for local events of interest.

Thanks
George

Rainier Fire Update....

When we were driving to Rainier Community Garden class on Fermentation, which was held at RHS, we passed the Rainier Market.  The store is surrounded by a chain link fence.  The burned out openings have been covered with plywood and there is a huge dumpster out front.  We were told that the market is going to be restored.  All the activity at the market indicates that they're starting to work on it.

Our hearts go out to Sarb, Jesse & their business partners.  They've been through so much just getting the market up and running.  They start getting some regular business and then there's a fire.  What a terrible, heartbreaking experience this has been for them.

Please keep an eye out on the Rainier Market.  They owners are wonderful people.  They've put a lot into Rainier and the Market.  When they re-open, please go visit them and support their business.

Rainier Market Destroyed by Fire

According to the Olympian, it looks like the fire that started with faulty wiring at the Rainier Market at about 11:20 PM, destroyed the whole building.  It's going to be a total loss.  This is sad news.  Sarb and Jesse have worked very hard at the market.  It was starting to take off.  Our hearts go out to them and their family.

Facebook posting by Thurston County Scanner:

Overnight posts to page thanks to Aaron MacLean "Commercial structure fire. Rainier Market, Rainier. Active fire with heavy smoke and explosions heard inside building. Threat to gas pumps. Defensive strategy." This came to our page around 11:30 last night.
