Board Meeting Minutes September 17, 2012

Board members of the Rainier Lions Club met at the Rainier Chapel at 6:30 PM.  Attending were:
Linda Lazelle, Evan Burnett, Bernice Beck, Brenda Flaherty, George & Linda Johnson, Rodney Mitchell, Art Runyan and Victoria Fanton.

We discussed our last two fundraisers:  Peaches, Pears & Nectarines and the Blue Grass Festival.  Both fundraisers went better then expected.  The final numbers are in and will be announced at our next regular meeting this coming Monday - September 24th.

We voted on donating to the following three groups:

LCIF - $500.00 to be designated to the Melvin Jones Award.
Project New Hope: $250.00
Leader Dogs:  $150

All were passed with 100% approval.

I contacted Linda Lazelle to confirm the donation amounts, because I wanted to make sure my information is correct.  I found there is some confusion about the Leader Dog donation.  Her note is below:

Linda Lazelle:   "I have sent the LCI and New Hope donations but have not the Leader Dogs because the Roster did not list them but listed an organization call Canine Companions for Independence. See email from ZC regarding donation. So, I won’t do the Leader Dogs donation until I have talked to George and we have made a decision about who to support."

Rodney Mitchell had three items he wanted to discuss.  The members of the Rainier Senior Center are interested in working on Bingo with us.  They are considering doing it on the first Monday of the month.
However, the Yelm Moose Lodge has Bingo on every Monday.  The day of the week may need to be changed.  Rod said needs someone to volunteer to work with him on this project with him.  He said he needs someone to help handle the paperwork mostly.

Rod said he would like to start a baseball team for next summer.  Our board members didn't show much interest in this idea.

Rod said he has the use of a truck, if we need to transport fruit ourselves in the future, as freight has been
expensive for us.  This is something that we may consider doing.  Rod has a CDL.

The meeting was adjourned after Rod spoke.
