General Meeting Minutes 4/14/2014

Scholarship candidates:  Aryn Thomas came with her father.  She spoke about her goal to be a pharmacist and own a pharmacy.  She is very involved in community service.  She is the president of her class this year and was class president last year.  She will be attending college in Oregon.  Her GPA is 3.965, so far.  
            
Scott Bartlett, Living History teachers at the Phoenix Rising School in Rainier, spoke on the Civil War Event they are holding at their school on April 26th & 27th.  He was a leader in the Navy and spoke about the Constitution battleship.  He was on is for the 2nd sailing under it's own power in 130 years.  It is 307 feet long from Boom to Jib.   He has an integrated classroom, teaching civil war, pioneers, performances n Civil War reenactments. PPN pricing and update - Prices the same, but Deb won't commit until the danger of frost has past.

Spring Conference – Bernice & Linda enjoyed the conference.  

Offer to school for playground fund.  The playground fund has earned almost $22,000 to date.  There are 4 grants that they are waiting to hear back from.  They plan to build the playground extension this summer.

Storage Auction Liquidators (new business in town.)  Several members have been in the store already and have found the prices reasonable! 

Family Fun Day:  Chris & Walt will be held on May 17th.  They will make bird houses.

Dues – start paying?  Tabled.

Soap Box Derby at Bluegrass?  Mentioned.

Next meals at club/Walt Dohring - Walt confirmed that he will be making lasagna.

Fred Evander will be our speaker at our April 28th meeting 

Visitations - were discussed.  George, Bernice, Evan and I will go to Lacey Lamplighters Wednesday evening, April 16th.  A sign-up sheet was passed around to the members.

Reimbursement for visitation .25 a mile for drivers?  This was approved for distances over 30 miles.

The yearly rent is due to the Rainier Chapel.  Bernice Beck motioned to pay the rent & Ron Lind seconded the motion.  All voted in favor of paying the yearly rent.  I left check #2057 from the Admin Account on the church conference table for pastor Mark.

Tail Twister - Chris raffled off 3 bathroom sets & earned $5.00 for tail twister
