SUMMER
FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES!
Hello, I am Jesse Westby,
regional manager of distribution in the state of Washington for hibu, the
publisher of Yellowbook. My team and I work with many groups and organizations
to help them with their fundraising in return
for delivering phone books to their communities. Our Washington distribution
office is one of the best in the country as we have helped hundreds of groups
raise thousands of dollars.
Yellowbook takes
pride in helping local communities raise as much money as
possible and groups enjoy
delivering because it does not involve selling anything, it’s a
great team building
activity and
the schedule is
very
flexible. The whole process is
simple. The
hardest part about this type of fundraiser is that you will get some
exercise and possibly get a tan.
I am currently
looking to contact groups and individuals to deliver our directories in

General Overview of
Delivery
Process:
Groups/Organizations are given delivery
routes, which are similar to the routes a postal worker uses when delivering
mail. Each route includes a listing of all the residents and businesses in that
area and also a map. Residential delivery is accomplished by simply walking up
to the resident’s door and setting the book in a bag against the hinge side of
the door. It does not
involve knocking on doors or selling. All business locations
must be delivered during regular business hours. The delivery person must go in
to each business and find out how many books the business requires. The
delivery person is then required to get a first name of the individual who
accepted the books at that location and write it in the route. You may choose routes with very
minimal businesses so you or your group can deliver outside of school hours or
on the weekends. When the routes are completed, a
percentage of the businesses and residents are called on each street of every
delivery route to make sure the work was completed properly and accurately.
Payment will be issued between 5-7 business days upon completion of the route.
Payment will vary due to how many addresses are on a route, and the number of
books distributed. Pay per route is
approximately $120 on average and takes one person approximately 8-12 hours to
complete a route. Of course, more
people working on a route, the faster it will be completed and the more routes
you can do in a short amount of time.
Group Testimonials:
My name is Nan, and I
am the group leader for the Yellowbook Fundraiser for Lynnwood High School. It
was a wonderful way for our kids to earn money for their band trip to Hawaii,
without going door to door selling things. We could also work on the route when
it fit into our schedules. Working with Yellowbook was very pleasant, mostly
because Jesse, the manager, was very helpful and we could call him with any
questions, as they came up. We did 15 routes
and earned $2388.55. (The money is based on how many books you deliver)
The money for each route goes to the account
of the students that worked the route, plus the adult that drove and worked on
the route, received a portion as well, toward their child's account. The adults
driving, took responsibility for their route, and organized with different kids
that wanted help raising money. It was an EXCELLENT fundraiser, as well as a
great opportunity for exercise, socializing, etc. There was a group of 4 moms
that did the mall together, since we wanted to do it before the mall got busy.
We had a LOT of fun working together! -Nan, L.H.S Band, Lynnwood

This was our first
time delivering phone books, and what a great and profitable fundraiser, easy
too. It was a very simple process from start to finish, and the students had a
blast getting to deliver the phone books, which was much easier than trying to
sell candy or cookies. Even in a time with a tough economy we were able to make
a great amount of money to support sending high school students to camp, over $800.00 dollars in just 2 weekends!
Yellowbook was also very supportive and made the experience as easy as possible.
Definitely a great fundraising opportunity for all kinds of groups. –Ernie

Groups: Ways to
Deliver
Groups I have worked with usually have a driver and at least
two other group members per vehicle. The driver can direct where the other
members should drop off the books. One member can bag the books and hand them
to the other members who are delivering the books to the doors. This way has
proven to be efficient for some groups. Other times, groups will bag books
first and fill up the vehicle (or frequently stop and bag while delivering) so
then all members are delivering the books to the doors while the driver
coordinates where to go and makes sure they are not delivering on somebody
else’s route (a map and address ranges are provided which include each address
to deliver to).
Being organized and efficient is a key component to
raising as much money as you can in the shortest amount of time. I would be
happy to talk to you about this as well.
The more drivers with members you have, the more routes you
can get done and the more funds that can be raised in a short amount of
time.
I have worked with some sports teams that have treated this fundraiser
as a workout. The coach had them constantly running the books to the
doors which led them to getting routes down quickly and the more routes
completed (money earned) in a short amount of time.
