Zone Dinner Meeting Update

We had 34 people attend the dinner. Only 2 items were donated by groups outside of our club for the raffle.  George Johnson, Chris Beck and Rod Mitchell brought donations for the silent auction and raffle. Rod brought donations from several Rainier businesses:

Teddy Bear Hauling
Main Street Cookies
Trammel Smith Barber Shop
Suks Salon
Sonja’s Restaurant

We received many compliments on the food from the Chinese Wok from our guests. The meeting went well. Groups reported on their activities, membership retention and increases, White Cane Days, Project New Hope, Camp Leo, grant writing, Lions Club Garage sales, etc. Groups reported on ways of serving our communities.

Dave Pratt announced the possibility of a large meeting being held in the future in Tacoma, WA. The committee was very impressed with the Tacoma Convention Center in 2016. More information will be sent out on that, later.

Leadership is looking into getting a class together to teach grant writing to the Lions Clubs in our district.

Sugar Murphy is having a membership retention meeting at her house on May 29th – at the same time as the Dinner for 5. Victoria & I have been invited to attend. We will discuss this at the next meeting. Linda and I went to the last meeting, where we learned a lot.
Sugar took a computer class on social networking. She shared this at her last membership meeting. Linda learned about social networking from Sugar and created our Lions Club blog (http:rainierlionsclub.blogspot.com) and Rainier Lions Club Facebook page as a result of that meeting. We’ve had almost 1200 visitors to our blog, so far.

The Rainier Lions Club won the 2 yards of gravel donated by Teddy Bear Hauling. It will be delivered to the Rainier Chapel and spread in the church parking lot.
Our thanks to all Lions Club members who attended our Zone Dinner. For those who didn’t attend, you really missed a fabulous evening!! Evan was very gracious....... Nick Murphy and Jim LaBelle won a special strawberry shortcake. You can find out all about it at the meeting on Monday night, May 14th at 7:00 PM.

Linda Lazelle will not be at Monday’s meeting, so if you have items for the agenda, please email Linda Johnson or Bernice Beck. We have left over Chinese food, so there will not be a pot luck or catering. See you Monday!

We serve!
George Johnson
