Commissioner
Romero hosts LOTT Director Mike Strub for Coffee Chat
OLYMPIA:
With every shower, load of laundry, and flush, wastewater is produced
that must be cleaned and sanitized
before reentering the environment. On Monday, March 24, join Commissioner Romero and her
guest, director of the LOTT Clean Water Alliance Mike Strub, and learn how
millions of gallons of wastewater are treated every day.
The LOTT Clean Water Alliance is
a non-profit corporation responsible for wastewater management services for the
urban area of north Thurston County, Washington. Its services include wastewater
treatment, reclaimed water production, and long-range planning. “LOTT” stands
for its four government partners – Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and Thurston
County. Functioning as a local government, LOTT is governed by a Board of four
elected officials appointed from its partner jurisdictions and operates under
the authority of an intergovernmental agreement. Joint facilities include a
large centralized treatment plant, a satellite treatment plant, three major
pump stations, major sewer interceptor pipelines, and reclaimed water
distribution pipelines.
Strub has been involved in public
infrastructure design, construction and management for over 35 years as a
private consultant and public manager. He is a registered professional
engineer, with a degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in
engineering management. Formerly the
Public Works Director in Rapid City, South Dakota, Mike became the Executive
Director of the LOTT Clean Water Alliance in 2002.
Once a month, Commissioner Romero
meets with community members for informal coffee chats. These meetings give you the opportunity to
talk about issues of concern, ask her questions about the county, and share
ideas. Commissioner Romero provides
participants' coffee. She is the
representative of District 2, which includes Yelm, Lacey, and Rainier.
